I have never seen anything like the Cannabis Cup. It was amazing to see the vendors, activists, and of course, all the smokers! I can’t compare this event to any other, really. For me it was an intense spiritual experience. There are some things we could learn from the Europeans about drug policy and environmental awareness.
At the 2002 Cannabis Cup, our favorite weed diva, Watermelon, hosted a night of marijuana entertainment called The Bong Show, in which she served as mistress of ceremonies. The hit of the night was Watermelon's stoned striptease using a squeegee (you figure it out).

Just before the New Year rang in, film actor Ryan Phillippe was looking for a little privacy. He didn’t find it. Phillippe, who starred in the stoner hit Homegrown, was photographed in Pacific Palisades, CA, scrunched down in the front seat of his car, apparently in the act of enjoying a few tokes.
French scientists recently announced that they have recreated the perfume the ancient Egyptians used to enhance their sex lives. For years, researcher Sandrine Videault attempted to find the formula for the legendary kyphi perfume. She received some assistance from the classic Greek writer Plutarch, who wrote that kyphi had the power “to send someone to sleep, to help them have sweet dreams, to relax them, to drive away the worries of the day, and to bring peace.”

All mind-altering drugs, including alcohol, are forbidden by Shari’a (Islamic law), but at least some Taliban frontline troops went to battle medicated. However, it was not Afghanistan's legendary opium or hashish that comforted Mullah Omar’s beleaguered fighters.
The last time we saw Dorothy, she was lying in bed, surrounded by farmhands, wondering which of them had slipped her a tab of acid before the tornado. But even though she famously claimed that “there’s no place like home,” Dorothy recently took another trip—this time to the 2002 Cannabis Cup.

In the small libraries of verbiage dedicated to the life and work of Bob Dylan, several facts tend to be overlooked: He is one of the most extraordinary vocalists of his time—not merely an eccentric stylist, but capable of packing more passion and nuance into one word than an opera house full of Pavarottis.

Lying about marijuana is nothing new to Drug Czar John Walters.
The recent allegation that America's rehab centers are overflowing with pot-addicted teens is a whopper even by Drug Warrior standards. According to Walters, pot is “by far the single largest factor in illegal drug addiction in the country.”
“I wish we had a dozen Anthony Lorenzos, but I’m glad for the one we already have,” says Jodi James, head of the Florida Cannabis Action Network. IN CEREMONIES BEGIN RESPONSIBILITIES
When a cultural autonomous zone is created, peace culture spontaneously erupts. Native American activist and poet John Trudell calls this “all tribes culture"; I call it “the counterculture."
On the eve of war, the counterculture gathered to celebrate peace. Counterculture Hall of Fame inductees Joan Baez and Bob Dylan were honored, and some of the world's finest herbs and resins were shared. Just about the time the crew figured out it was a great year for Dutch weed, the Cannabis Cup's founder and fearless leader was kidnapped by the constabulary, throwing the event into a potential tailspin.
In my wildest dreams, I never imagined that one day I’d be told, “Before you can leave tonight, you must blindly sample every coffeeshop entry and choose the best three.” The eight celebrity pre-testers were given instructions to meet at the Quentin Hotel for transport to a secret location.
