Divorce: Confusion's Masterpiece, by Paul Kearney. Even a lawyer has to see a lawyer about divorce, with the confusion of state laws in this country, all differing from the other. A comic and sometimes tragic mess which is of vital interest to every citizen. The Art of Courtship—Special Supplement.

WE have just recovered from the stresses and strains of crating and shipping a large and active Doberman pinscher to a point 2500 miles away, and even though we never left our home-to-desk-to-home-again routine, our imagination has taken the hegira for us—in spirit, we have looked through the bars of the cage at innumerable expressmen and railroad employees; we have eaten and drunk from a slowly rusting plate nailed to the bottom of our crate; we have heard the tap of steel on steel as the trainman looked for hotboxes at Toledo, Elkhart, and Las Vegas; and we have conjectured whether to lick the fingers which stretched into our cage, or merely to crunch them off with a single bite.

Would certainly like to congratulate William Laas on his article in the January issue of Esquire, In Defense of Speeding. If I ever concurred wholeheartedly with anything, it was his article. Maybe some of these drivers will wake up and drive .... While I am on the road, I follow the old adage: when you see an arm protruding out of a window, it merely means the window is open.

LIKE the sheet music for a symphony, a printed commentary by JIMMY DURANTE iS a classic in its own right, but it must be heard to be appreciated. Therefore, when you come to the Schnozzola’s "Nort and Sout of the Border," we suggest that you read it aloud as he would read it—remembering that "dere are a million good-looking guys, but Durante’s a novelty."

Vacation Now
In the spring, a man’s fancy turns to the great getaway he’s been planning all winter
[no value]
[no value]
[no value]
APRIL is a fine vacation month for the man who has had stamina enough to stay with the job all winter, without more than a ski week end or three or four to himself, and now feels the urge to be good to himself for a change. It’s a month when spring’s first stirrings will arouse in you a strong desire to be up and doing —preferably away from the scenes of winter battles and victories along the industrial front.

EL BORRACHO, 51 E. 55th St. Host Nicky Quattrociocchi’s genial whimsicality does not conceal his culinary wisdom. French-Italian food, accent on cookery and service. The wine steward knows his art. Kiss Room, with 40,000 imprints of different lips, disturbs some amorous males, as does menu price of $3127.83 for a portion of Talking Mynah Bird Saute Madeira; but consolation is found in dinners from $3.95 to $4.95—excellent values, as are the a la carte items.

<p>"WHY all this talk about homosexuality?" you may ask. "Why is so much being written on the subject these days?" Well, apart from the fact that any peculiar behavior pattern that affects an appreciable element of society is bound to have an impact upon all of us, our studied refusal in the past to discuss homosexuality has led to the shocking success of a shake-down racket so heinous it is rarely mentioned in print.</p>

<p>WE live in a cynical age, and the writer wise enough to perceive this and capitalize on it will end up owning a big house complete with air-conditioned steam room, indoor trout stream, and a barber chair. Typewriter commandos whose aim is character assassination are among the best-paid of all mercenaries.</p>

AT last came a night of no moon, and with it came Sergeant Ezra Lee, prepared to step into History. It was August of 1776. A British fleet lay in New York Harbor. Already it had closed American ports; it had driven American ships from the sea. Now it rocked gently off Staten Island, insolently certain as to who ruled the waves.

<p>The great architect LeCorbusier defined the "perfect" house as a "machine for living"—an environment which completely and efficiently serves the functional, the sensory and the esthetic requirements of its occupants. Esquire's Perfect House is an attempt to interpret this idealistic concept in the form of actual designs for one such machine for living.</p>
