Readers are invited to have their say about motorcycles they own or have owned. Anything is fair game: performance, handling, reliability, service, parts availability, funkiness, lovability, you name it. Suggestions: be objective, be fair, no wildly emotional but illfounded invectives; include useful facts like miles on odometer, time owned, model year, special equipment and accessories bought, etc.

TESTING A MOTORCYCLE over the course of a year is a rare thing in motorcycle journalism. For obvious reasons. Were you to wait to test every motorcycle this way, the reader who wanted to buy a new model when it came out would have little information on which to base his purchase.

JODY NICHOLAS
FEW OF THE current motocross enthusiasts and competitors remember the days of the lusty BSA, Matchless, Ariel and Velocette 500cc single-cylinder motocross machines of better than a decade ago. These big Singles dominated the motocross picture in Europe and were highly developed pieces of equipment by the time they were finally superseded by the much lighter and smaller two-strokes.

EVERYONE KNOWS that a motorcycle has to have a pair of fork legs and a swinging arm that cradles the rear wheel. Well, not everyone. The Swiss AB Hagglund & Soner firm doesn't know and it is better off because its prototype XM72 is one of the few completely original designs to emerge in a long time.
