Frederick H. Evans, hailed in 1903 by Alfred Stieglitz as "the greatest exponent of architectural photography," died in London in 1943, just two days before his ninetieth birthday. By chance, on a wartime mission to London in 1944, I saw the memorial exhibition of his photographs, organized by The Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain.
