To Alfred Stieglitz "camera work” stood for an almost universal philosophy of picture making which treated photography as another medium in the service of artists. Yet, somehow, by common consent, "Camera Work” has remained for half a century only the name of the monumental Quarterly that Stieglitz published between 1902 and 1917.
