Welcome to our June bi-monthly edition of THE CHIROPRACTIC ASSISTANT! This edition has a special CA feature interview with Nanette Pututau, a 10 year veteran CA who currently functions as the office manager for Lighthouse Health. Look at her interview on page 8 to get a quick peek at what her daily schedule looks like.
Educational articles designed to help CAs understand the underlying anatomy and physiology of conditions presenting to the chiropractic office.
Spring has sprung and we will be seeing a lot more skin on our patients. Just by the nature of our work, chiropractic offices see a lot of skin in all seasons! This can occur during the exam and adjusting process performed by the doctor, but also in the therapy room where CAs will often be the ones to apply physiotherapy modalities, such as ice/heat, electric muscle stimulation, or ultrasound.
What Does it Take to be a Successful Chiropractic Assistant?
An Interview with Nanette Pututau
The Chiropractic Assistant
A successful chiropractic office can't function without a good chiropractic assistant, or a team of them, if business is good. At Lighthouse Health, the clinic sees upward of 40 patients on a daily basis, requiring eight assistants to keep up with the demand for Dr. Goodman's services.
Every chiropractor wants to see more patients. Marketing a practice can easily become a full-time job, and marketing may not be the doctor's strength. There are different kinds of marketing that can be done. There is external marketing, which includes direct mail, networking, outside talks or screenings, volunteering, being active in the community, and putting on different events.
Let's talk about the issue of "maintenance care" or plain old "maintenance." This issue seems to be extolled to the level of a chiropractic sacrament by many. What is it exactly? The vast majority of chiropractors across the globe schedule their patients (adults and children) for their once-a-month "maintenance" adjustment (visit).
Wondering Why Everyone is Talking About EHR? Well you should!
Paul B. Bindell
As a CA, here are some of the powerful benefits that a complete EHR system can give you: 1. Practice Marketing — One of the best resources for new patients is to get your existing patients to talk about the doctor and the practice. The EHR system includes letter templates for patient education and health information, as well as a merge feature to personalize each letter.
What is solution-based thinking? A brief review of job listings at Monster.com reveals that nearly every managerial-level job description requires that candidates possess this skill. In fact, I'd submit that every chiropractic team member should possess this skill.
