The Bronica RF645 is the world’s first 6x4.5-cm (21/4x15/sinch) rangefinder camera with interchangeable lenses, and it’s probably the handiest, most compact medium-format camera available today. Its outstanding bayonet-mount lens line includes a 45mm f/4 Zenzanon-RF wide-angle, a 65mm f/4 Zenzanon-RF standard lens, and a 135mm f/4.5 Zenzanon-RF tele, each incorporating a state-of-the-art electronically controlled shutter and diaphragm that provides shutter speeds up to 1/750 in program mode, 1/500 sec in manual or aperture-priority modes, and apertures to f/32. When you change lenses, an ingenious light-shielding curtain automatically comes into place to protect the film, thus eliminating the inconvenience of using and storing darkslides.

Robustly constructed on a sturdy die-cast metal chassis, the Bronica RF645 has a commendably bright, range/viewfinder system with projected parallax-compensating framelines for 65mm and 135mm lenses, and illuminated, full-information finder readouts that include meter mode, f-stop, and shutter speed. Setting the camera for 16 exposures per roll of 120 film or 32 exposures on 220 requires only the flick of a single tab.

While providing a classic format and straightforward controls, the RF645 incorporates the essential modern conveniences, such as a dedicated autoflash system, multi-exposure-capability, exposure-compensation, autoexposure-lock, metered-manual exposure, and built-in self-timer. In short, this appealing, well-engineered camera not only offers procaliber performance, it adds an unmistakable fun factor to medium-format shooting.

Our sweepstakes prize Bronica RF645 comes complete with 65mm normal lens and two CR2 lithium batteries. If you’ve always hankered to get into medium-format but were put off by the size, weight and complexity of the equipment, this is your golden opportunity. Enter now!
