At Last! A Zoom Lens Point-and Shoot 35mm That Fits Your Pocket
How do you photograph rain streaming off umbrellas and yet maintain absolute control over lighting and exposure? Create a storm in the studio! California pro Richard Fukuhara and his colleague Bjorn Winter set up a PVC pipe with sprinkler heads at eight-inch intervals over the umbrellas. Water spraying out of this rain machine was collected in a plastic trough running into a bucket. Our conservationist photographers recirculated the water with a small pump and plastic tubing. Have we left anything out? Oh yes, photo data: A single Broncolor 606 flash with umbrella and foam-core reflector lit the scene for an exposure of f/22 at 1/60 sec bn Kodak Ektachrome 64 Professional in a Sinar P 4 x 5 view camera with 210mm f/5.6 Schneider Symmar lens.
